About our research area:
Our research interests are in the fields of
harmonic analysis and
special functions. Harmonic analysis has its origin in classical Fourier analysis where signals, such as images or sound signals, are decomposed into basic building blocks.
We are especially interested in questions where symmetries play a role. Besides analysis, geometric and group theoretic
considerations then come into play, and one is naturally led to work with specific classes of functions which reflect the
underlying symmetries. A central area of our current research is Dunkl-Cherednik theory, which provides a
powerful framework for the classical harmonic analysis on symmetric spaces including applications in probability and physics.
